Biography

Allison Murn teaches Marketing at the Carlson School of Management and leverages her expertise to develop the next generation of marketers and general managers. Her corporate, entrepreneurial, and consulting experiences have enabled her to teach a variety of courses to both MBA and undergraduate students.

Murn also is the Founder and Chief Luminary of Illuminiting, a brand growth consultancy dedicated to shedding light on the path to growth. After 15 years working across a variety of different industries (Beauty, Food/Beverage, Consumer Products, Industrial Manufacturing, and Education), Murn's breadth and depth of experiences make her uniquely qualified to develop winning strategies across a broad range of businesses.

Throughout her career, Murn's leadership is best recognized by her outstanding creative vision, problem-solving, and people development.  Murn's achievements stem from her insane ability to design process and thrive in undefined and ever-changing environments. During her most defining roles at Aveda, Cameron's Coffee, and Procter & Gamble, Murn demonstrated her capability to drive substantial growth across both small and large brands.

At Aveda, Murn lead retail products (hair care, men's, skin care, body care, fragrance, and cosmetics) in salons, brick and mortar, and e-commerce across North America. Murn launched Cherry Almond, the largest launch in the entire prestige hair care category in 2018, by connecting with Millennials and Gen-Z for the first time in a meaningful way. Murn helped Aveda transition their focus to the consumer, while still supporting their heritage salon business.

As Vice President of Marketing at Cameron's Coffee, Murn successfully rebranded the Cameron's Coffee portfolio, started a marketing team, and kicked off the brand's first-ever Marketing support. Murn's brand development and packaging redesign on the Cameron's brand led to distribution in major retailers like Costco, Target, and Meijer.  During her tenure, Cameron's also secured its initial private equity buyout. On top of her responsibilities in Marketing, Murn led Cameron's product innovation and launched over 300 products, including all launch phases from concept development to execution.

Before joining Cameron's Coffee, Murn spent eight years at P&G, where she started Tide's social sustainability program (Tide Loads of Hope), launched new Charmin Ultra Strong, and won the American Packaging Design Award for designing the Puffs blossom.

Murn earned an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a BA from the University of Michigan.
